What is IVR and how it can help your business
If you are a telecommunications acronym-junkie, the term IVR is probably near and dear to your heart. If you get confused anytime you see these three letters together, read on. I will try to demystify it all in simple terms.
IVR stands for Interactive Voice Response. It is a technology which allows a computer to recognize keypad entries or human voice. If you have called an airline recently trying to get an update on a flight, the system you interacted with is powered by IVR.
Traditional IVR solutions have used pre-recorded voice and menus to offer information to callers, and used keypad entries to gather information from the callers. More advanced IVR solutions like 800PBX, can recognize spoken words through voice recognition.
There are several ways in which IVR can benefit your business:
1. You can receive e-mails on your phone and reply to the e-mails using a voice attachment.
2. Your customers can call and automatically schedule an appointment, which then gets synchronized with your Google or Exchange calendar automatically.
3. One of the cool things we can do at 800PBX, is enabling quick surveys. You simply come up with the questions, upload them, and the system will take it from there. We will prompt your callers about the survey, and will e-mail the results to the address you specify.
4. Automated call reminders are a very efficient way to remind your clients or your team about upcoming appointments. The system will dial the meeting attendees, and lets them confirm, reschedule or cancel the appointment.
These are only a few examples of IVR applications. Keep checking back for more and call 800PBX with any questions.
